According to Town & Country, aides found Kingston unconscious on Sunday evening in Gloucestershire. They called emergency services to the scene, but first responders were unable to revive him. They pronounced him dead. While a coroner is holding an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death, the publication noted officials found nothing suspicious at the scene. Recent reports indicate that he died due to a head injury.

Buckingham Palace released a statement saying, “Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family.” The palace has kept the details of any upcoming funeral under wraps thus far. Government officials haven’t provided any relevance to the fact that Prince William was absent at Greek King Constantine II’s memorial service when Kingston died.

Kingston, who had no royal lineage himself, married into the family of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent when he wed Lady Gabriella. He also dated other royals and those connected to the royal family, including the Princess of Wales’ sister, Pippa Middleton.

The royal once worked for the UK’s Diplomatic Missions Unit of the Foreign Office, where he helped negotiate hostage releases. Following that, he became a well-known financier who worked for Schroders and Voltan Capital Management before accepting a position as the Director of Devonport Capital. The news of Kingston’s death shocked his social circle, with one friend saying, “None of us saw it coming. I cannot understand it,” according to The Daily Mail.

People saw Kingston with his wife in the days before his death, and someone said they looked as “happy and positive as ever,” The Daily Mail reported. His family said he was an “exceptional” individual “who lit up the lives of all who knew him.”
