(USNewsBreak.com) – In Texas, on Tuesday, December 5, victims called police to multiple sites where they found several people dead and others injured. Authorities eventually apprehended the suspect and have charged him with capital murder, with other charges pending.
The shootings started around 10:45 a.m. in Austin, Texas, as detailed in a Facebook post by the Austin Police Department. Northeast Early College High School called law enforcement to the scene, where they found an Austin Independent School District officer shot. The officer survived the shooting. But the events didn’t stop there.

Just prior to noon, police responded to another call of shots fired. This time, at an Austin residence, law enforcement found two people — one dead and one injured. The injured person later died at the hospital. Authorities identified the victims as 32-year-old Emmanual Pop Ba and 24-year-old Sabrina Rahman.
Several hours later, an assailant shot another man in Austin while the victim rode his bike. His wounds weren’t life-threatening. A final incident occurred just before 7 p.m. when police responded to a home for a burglary in process. The assailant killed the victims in this case, too. Authorities haven’t released their names. The suspect fired at police and tried to escape, but officers apprehended him. Detectives later identified him as 34-year-old Shane James.
In its post, the Austin Police Department clarified why it hadn’t activated a Blue Alert, issued when there’s information to provide to the public to help in the capture of violent criminals suspected of killing or seriously injuring a law enforcement officer in the line of duty,” per the Department of Justice. They noted that they didn’t have any “actionable intelligence” or information that would have helped to identify the suspect at the time.
Authorities suspect James in the deaths of two people in San Antonio, as well, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. That incident occurred before the multiple events in Austin. The victims are reported to be his parents, Phyllis James, 55, and Shane Matthew James Sr, 56.
