Fandango Founder Reported Dead

(USNewsBreak.com) – Fandango is an online ticketing website that allows users to purchase movie tickets prior to going to the theater to save both time and money. It was co-founded in 1999 by J. Michael Cline and Art Levitt. Cline presided over the company until 2011 when he left. The serial entrepreneur recently passed away in a shocking fashion.

On Tuesday, New York City police officers were called to the scene of Kimberly Hotel, a luxury hotel in Manhattan, where they “found an unconscious and unresponsive male with injuries indicative of a fall from an elevated position.” It was later revealed that the victim was Cline and, even more shocking, that he had allegedly jumped to his death. A note was found in his room, and the medical examiner’s office ruled his death a suicide. He was just 64.

Cline was born and raised in New York, where he graduated from Cornell University. He later received his MBA from Harvard. Cline was a serial entrepreneur who enjoyed starting up businesses, something he first began in the 1980s with “Penguin Warmers.” He admitted that he “had no idea what [he] was doing” and that the business failed. But that was just the beginning. He would go on to enjoy a very successful career with many accolades.

The Fandango co-founder was also heavily involved in running tech and venture capital firms and owned Accretive, a private equity firm. At the time of his death, he was Juxtapose’s executive chairman.

It’s not clear why Cline decided to jump to his death; the contents of the note he left behind weren’t revealed. His death came as a shock to all who knew him. He leaves behind his wife, Pamela Cline, and their six children.
