Actor Passes Away at 56

TV Actor Passes Away

(USNewsBreak.com) – “One Life to Live” was a popular soap opera from 1968 to 2012, showcasing people from all walks of life. One of its longtime actors, Kamar de los Reyes, played the role of Antonio Vega, a gangster turned police officer. Sadly, he recently passed away after briefly battling with cancer.

Lisa Goldberg, publicist for Sherri Saum, the actor’s wife, confirmed that de los Reyes died on Christmas Eve. He was 56.

De los Reyes was born on November 8, 1967, in Puerto Rico, but he grew up in Las Vegas in a family of musicians. His family said he got bit by the acting bug at a young age. After graduating from high school, he moved to Los Angeles before ending up in New York, where he landed a role in “Blade to the Heat,” an off-Broadway play. From there, he earned more roles in plays before finding himself in television roles.

De los Reyes first appeared in “One Life to Live” in 1995 and appeared in 300 episodes over the next 17 years. He experienced many romantic entanglements in his role, but he also met the woman who became his wife, Saum, on the show. She played one of his romantic interests. De Los Reyes was very outspoken about the show’s diversity and the fact that the soap opera showcased one of the only all-Puerto Rican families on daytime television, a move he called “formidable,” per The New York Times.

The actor landed minor roles in movies alongside Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez and appeared in popular television series “New York Undercover” and “Sleepy Hollow.” He provided the voice for Raul Menendez, a villain in many “Call of Duty” video games.

De los Reyes was filming for “All American,” a sports drama, just before his death and had finished shooting appearances in “Washington Black” and “Daredevil: Born Again.”

De los Reyes leaves behind his wife, three sons, two sisters, two brothers, and his parents.
