(USNewsBreak.com) – In the early morning hours of October 7, Hamas launched a devastating attack on Israel. The terrorist group not only sent thousands of missiles flying into the country, it also breached by land and sea. In the aftermath, reports estimate that up to 2,000 people have died, and there have been thousands of others injured. Many have looked to Iran as a potential sponsor of the war, but its officials are denying any involvement.
On Tuesday, October 10, the leading state sponsor of terrorism denied it had any part in the plotting of the attacks that took Israel by surprise. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was quick to celebrate this, though, citing the “irreparable” defeat Israel suffered. He was adamant that “those who say that the recent saga is the work of non-Palestinians have miscalculated.” Other officials insist that painting Iran as a party to the attack is simply a political ploy meant to rally support in Israel’s favor.

Both Israeli and US officials have made statements to the effect that they are unclear if Iran played a part. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said there was no evidence pointing in that direction at this time. Reuters reported that Iran’s mission to the United Nations released a statement putting the act solely on the shoulders of Palestine, saying it was a “wholly legitimate defense against seven decades of oppressive occupation” carried out by the “illegitimate Zionist regime.”
President Joe Biden addressed Americans, condemning the attack on Israel, and he has pledged to stand by Israel and offer it the support it needs to fight off the Hamas. As of October 11, at least 22 Americans have died in Israel, with another 17 unaccounted for.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to wage war on the terrorist group, warning Israelis to get out of the Gaza Strip and mobilizing 300,000 reservists.
