(USNewsBreak.com) – Airport officials take many steps to ensure the safety of passengers. But sometimes, despite their best efforts, incidents happen at the facilities that put customers at risk. A woman who stabbed multiple people at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta has been arrested and is facing numerous charges.
The incident took place on Wednesday, October 11, around 4:45 p.m. The suspect, later identified as 44-year-old Damaris Milton, reportedly took a taxi to the airport and stabbed the driver before exiting the vehicle. Once inside the airport, police were trying to corral her and keep her movements limited, but she still managed to stab another person, this time an airport clerk. Police then tried to tase her but were unsuccessful as she was wearing multiple layers of clothing.

One lieutenant who tried to stop Milton with pepper spray became a victim himself when he slipped on the substance, and she stabbed him in the leg while he was incapacitated. From there, another officer was able to subdue the suspect and take her into custody. The incident did not cause any delays at the airport’s security checkpoints, as there are multiple entrances, but the airport did warn that some flights may be impacted.
All three of the victims were taken to local hospitals, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The officer who was stabbed in the leg, Lt. David Cannon, is reported to be at home recovering.
Authorities booked Milton into the Clayton County Jail, where she remains held on a $3 million bond. She’s facing four counts of aggravated assault. She appeared to be argumentative during her first court appearance when asked if she needed an attorney.
Currently, police are not aware of any connection between the victims and Milton, though they are continuing to investigate the attack. Additionally, they have yet to disclose a potential motive.
