10 Injured in Florida Shooting Incident

10 Injured in Florida Shooting Incident

(USNewsBreak.com) – Mass shootings have become all too common in the United States, with hundreds of incidents happening each year. One of the most recent to take place occurred in Seminole County, Florida, resulting in 10 people suffering injuries. However, a security guard was able to tackle and subdue the shooter before things got worse.

The shooting took place in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 28. Cabana Live, a restaurant and events venue in Sanford, called deputies after reporting gunfire. When they arrived on the scene, they found security personnel on the scene had already restrained the shooter, a 16-year-old boy, in handcuffs.

Apparently, the incident started when a fight inside the restaurant, which was hosting a private event, steamrolled. The detained teen reportedly wasn’t part of the initial fight. As a result of the shooting, 10 people went to the hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds, and most had received injuries in their lower bodies, per authorities. None of the injuries were life-threatening, and the gunman didn’t injure any of the restaurant staff. Authorities later said that another person was believed to have opened fire during the incident, but that it may have been self-defense.

Tank Dell, a Houston Texans wide receiver, was one of the people injured in the shooting. A post from the team on X, formerly Twitter, noted that his wound was minor. The hospital released Dell, and the team statement said he remained “in good spirits” despite the incident.

The restaurant opened for regular business the day after the shooting. The event didn’t stop people from visiting, either. One of the customers the following day, Greg Sanders, said his visit was “wonderful” and that the fight probably started over something “so silly,” noting that “Nobody respects life anymore. They don’t appreciate it.”

The teen involved in the shooting is facing a multitude of charges, including discharging a firearm on public property, attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a minor, and display and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
