Pelosi Skirts Question About Whether Kamala Harris Is Best Running Mate

( – The 2024 election is just over a year away, and it’s looking like President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will be the Democratic nominees. Opinions differ in Congress on whether the pair is the right choice to continue leading the country. Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) recently skirted a question regarding the POTUS’ running mate.

On Wednesday night, September 12, Pelosi appeared on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360,” discussing the upcoming election with the host. When pressed whether she believes Harris is the best choice for Biden, she danced around giving a direct answer by saying, “He thinks so, and that’s what matters.” Cooper pressed again and got a similar response, a non-answer.

While she may not have given her what equates to an endorsement, Pelosi did praise Harris, saying she’s “politically astute,” and the former Speaker doesn’t believe she gets enough credit for that. She also believes Harris receives far too much flak from people who ask why she isn’t more involved. Pelosi explained that the vice president’s role is to provide “strength, inspiration, [and an] intellectual resource” and that as a VP, “You don’t do that much.”

Regarding President Joe Biden, however, Pelosi had much more to say. She spoke about his accomplishments and character and said his vision for America is “fairness and justice,” particularly when addressing issues working families face. She noted some concern about his age — coming from all sides — but indicated he has overwhelming support in Congress.

One of the main issues people have expressed about Harris is that if Biden is re-elected and becomes unfit to serve out the term, Harris would step into his shoes. Some have expressed their feelings, saying a vote for Biden would really become a vote for Harris for president. Pelosi said she hopes Biden doesn’t drop out of the race. Time will tell how it all plays out.
